Exercise 23rd SHOT

January - March 2002
At the end of January, seventy personnel from 60 Headquarters & Support Squadron (Air Support) set off from Waterbeach Barracks to catch some winter sun in Gibraltar on Exercise 23rd SHOT. The annual six week construction exercise provides an ideal opportunity for smaller units to get away from barracks, tackle some interesting projects and get in some good adventurous training. This year, the Squadon were fortunate to be involved in a parade exercising the Corps’ freedom of Gibraltar. The Squadron paraded with members of the Royal Engineers’ Association and MES (Works) and after an inspection by the Lord Mayor of Gibraltar and the Chief Royal Engineer, marched through the streets. The parade was followed by a reception and a good party, but Exercise 23rd SHOT was not all drill and drinks ….
